Dear experts and professionals: I have recently come into contact with a type of sulfur-containing hazardous waste (in solid form), amounting to about 13 tons per day, with 30% sulfur content. This material is highly flammable – it catches fire at 200°C – and when burned, it produces solid residues (about 8-9 tons per day, which need to be recycled), sulfur dioxide (about 7 tons), carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and other substances. I want to get rid of it by calcination; however, calcination produces sulfur dioxide, and a large amount of this gas can be generated in one day. The quantity is so great that it cannot be released into the atmosphere, so I want to convert it into sulfuric acid. Without detailed information on the proportions of the smoke components and the volume of smoke, there are no requirements regarding the steam generated as a by-product. I would like to know how much investment is required for sulfuric acid production facilities of this scale (about 4,000 tons per year). Additionally, the sulfuric acid exhaust gas can be fed into existing desulfurization equipment for treatment. Furthermore, are there any other uses for sulfuric acid besides its production, with low investment and operating costs being preferable?
