Hydrogenation shutdown: Distillation column maintenance

During the shutdown for maintenance of the hydrocracking unit, a thick layer of sediment was found at the bottoms of both the butane removal tower and the fractionation tower. What is this sediment, and where did it come from?
Sediment is definitely not a product of the process; it must have been due to inadequate cleaning during the first operation, with dirt accumulating in this area.

Is it because the water quality isn’t clean during transportation, or is there an issue with the quality of the water being added? All the crude oils are filtered, and the filtration precision is quite high; our facility requires a particle size of less than 20um. It is recommended to check whether there are any issues with the water quality, or perhaps there is welding slag and rust from the pipeline cleaning process
