NBT 47020-2012 specifies requirements for flanges of pressure vessels, while GBT 29463.-2012 covers gaskets used in shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The allowable operating temperature of the gaskets is determined based on the pressure rating, which ranges from 0 to 6.4 MPa. When selecting a gasket, both pressure and temperature factors must be taken into account, with the choice being made by referring to the gasket’s temperature-pressure curve.
The key function of this seal is mainly to prevent graphite from burning out. The best graphite must be used, and the material for the reinforcement rings should be stainless steel. You can turn to gasket manufacturers such as Fluoride and Aizhi; they all produce gaskets for high-temperature applications.
At this temperature, the ablation rate of graphite is relatively high, which reduces the reliability and durability of gaskets. It is recommended to use thermoculite materials for gaskets.
