What is a good type of gasket to use for low-pressure steam (0.4-0.6 MPA) pipelines?
Metal-graphite wound gaskets are the type of gasket used most frequently by our company.
Metal and graphite are the most commonly used, with a small amount of asbestos as well
If you want it cheap, use asbestos pads. For safety, and since it doesn’t need to be replaced often, use metal wound gaskets.
Semi-metallic gaskets are suitable; I’m not quite sure about the specific model. It seems that the metal-based gaskets mentioned above are more commonly used, such as 304 plus expanded graphite
In the past, high-pressure asbestos gaskets were commonly used; pre-made versions of such gaskets were also available. However, today metal wound gaskets are more widely used. Once an asbestos gasket leaks, it sticks to the sealing surface and is difficult to clean, and it has a higher tendency to develop problems compared to metal graphite wound gaskets. At present, metal wound gaskets are also used in our coal gas pipelines that operate at near-atmospheric pressure
