Question: In the Bayer process for leaching bauxite, solutions prepared using mother liquor or caustic soda are both used to leach bauxite – what is the difference between the two?
Could you first tell me what the components of the mother liquor you mentioned are?
Well, from what I know, the mother liquor used by others has an RP value of around 0.54. I don’t have it available for experiments right now, so I can only use lye to prepare a solution for dissolution. I wonder if there is a big difference in the results when using caustic soda. Because the dissolution process involves not only the formation of sodium aluminate from alumina and alkali solution, but also reactions between alumina and the sodium aluminate solution.
