Our company has three large storage tanks with a capacity of 10,000 liters each, made of carbon steel and PVC. Currently, capacitive differential pressure level gauges are being used. Due to the fast flow rate of material in and out of the tanks, there are significant fluctuations in the liquid level, and pressure buildup within the tanks may also cause inaccuracies in the level readings. I would like to ask those experienced in this field whether there are any suitable level gauges for such conditions; any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much
Radar level gauges and ultrasonic level gauges are both available
If the liquid level fluctuates greatly, using radar or ultrasound can lead to errors; when there is pressure inside the tank, it’s better to opt for a double-flange design. However, the appropriate material for making contact with the liquid must be selected based on the chemical properties of the medium.
At present, the double-flange design is a relatively suitable option. If pressure is present inside and it needs to be replaced, imported radar sensors can be used; I haven’t tried ultrasonic sensors yet, but it’s worth giving them a try. For a range of five meters, E+H’s ultrasonic sensors cost just over 3,000, so you might consider those. If you encounter any issues, feel free to contact me privately
