We have installed a new anaerobic tank with a capacity of 160 cubic meters. At present, it is necessary to add activated sludge to cultivate microorganisms within it. Our wastewater does not contain phosphorus, and the wastewater treatment plant also sets requirements for phosphorus content in the discharged water (less than 3 ppm); therefore, the phosphorus content in the activated sludge to be added to our new anaerobic tank must also be controlled. However, after diluting and analyzing sludge samples taken from three other domestic wastewater treatment plants, the phosphorus content in them was found to be 22 ppm. If such sludge is added to the anaerobic tank, the phosphorus content in the discharged wastewater will definitely be high (we tried this before, and it took half a year before the phosphorus level dropped). This would certainly make it difficult to discharge the water to the wastewater treatment plant. How should this sludge be selected? Is there a problem with the analysis method or something else?
Where does phosphorus come from? From the sludge or from the supernatant contained in the sludge? Is it organic phosphorus or inorganic phosphorus? If it’s organic phosphorus, things get complicated as it needs to be converted into inorganic phosphorus; the most effective method for dealing with inorganic phosphorus at present is to precipitate it by adding calcium. The top priority is to determine the source before deciding on a course of action
Where is it in the project? We have granular sludge in Anhui
