I’m using a gear pump to transfer polyvinyl alcohol with a viscosity of over 100,000; I need to pump it to a height of 4 meters. The pump is equipped with a 3kW motor that is connected directly to the pump head. When the frequency is set to 5Hz, the pump reaches around 100 revolutions per minute before an overload alarm is triggered and the pump can no longer function. What’s causing this issue?
Do you mean the actual amount of traffic that can be achieved, or the desired amount of traffic? At the moment it’s not possible to achieve the flow rate required, as mentioned; it’s around 1 to 2 tons per hour
The viscosity is quite high; is there any good solution?
Centrifugal pumps are not suitable for media with high viscosity, as the impeller may be damaged in such cases. For media with high viscosity, piston/plunger diaphragm pumps or piston/plunger pumps are generally used.
