Operation and management of gas steam boilers and gas hot water boilers: 1. The boiler operator must be thoroughly familiar with the locations and functions of all the equipment and valves in the boiler’s water circulation system. 2. Hot water boilers must operate with the tank filled with water. It is necessary to regularly monitor the parameters of water temperature and pressure to ensure their stability. An alarm device should be installed for the outlet water temperature, in order to prevent excessive temperatures that could lead to boiling and shock waves. The vent valve should also be used regularly to release air. 3. Before starting the boiler, the circulation water pump must be turned on first, and then the boiler can be started. During operation and immediately after shutting down the boiler, the circulation pump must not be stopped to prevent steam from causing water hammer. When shutting down the boiler, the side wall doors should be opened to allow natural ventilation, and the grate should be moved intermittently to avoid damaging it. 4. The circulating water pump is one of the main components of the heating system; two pumps should be installed, with one in operation and another as a backup. The specifications for the pipeline valves within the circulating water pump and boiler room areas are determined by the heating system design firm. 5. When the boiler needs to be shut down for a short period of time, the circulation water pump must not be stopped immediately after shutdown; it is only allowed to be stopped when the temperature of the feed water in the system drops to 40 degrees. 6. Pay constant attention to pressure changes, and strive to maintain stable pressure inside the furnace, ensuring that it does not exceed the maximum allowable operating pressure. The pressure gauge elbow should be flushed once per shift. To maintain the accuracy of the pressure gauge, it should be calibrated once a year; if the reading error exceeds 0.1 MPa, it should be repaired or replaced. 7. Electric contact pressure thermometers should be installed at both the inlet and outlet of the boiler to ensure reliable control of the water temperature; in particular, the outlet water temperature must not exceed the value specified by the boiler. Pressure gauges and thermometers should be installed together on one side of the boiler for easy observation and adjustment.
