Another year of the chemical engineering exam

By 2014, I collapsed; I felt like I wasn’t on the right path to recovery. This time, I read the books provided by the association, worked diligently on the practice questions, and also did the actual exam questions carefully, but my results were still not satisfactory. I’m starting to doubt my life – could there be something wrong with my IQ? But I feel like I’ve done my best; after all, I hadn’t studied organic chemistry before, and I only started self-studying the materials right before the exam. Now, I find it easier to understand the knowledge in those books. But that’s how exams are – they don’t follow any set pattern; they always test things you don’t know, and throw a series of tough questions at you one after another. I really want to tell the kids at school to pay attention in class – every piece of knowledge is useful; don’t be like me. Well, there is a big difference between those who study chemical engineering and those from other fields. Those in this major might have come into contact with concepts such as chemical kinetics and chemical thermodynamics, while we have only studied organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and structural chemistry – it’s really nothing like the broader field of chemical engineering. As expected, the tears I’m shedding now are the result of poor decisions made when choosing my major back then. Taking these exams over these two days feels like going to war; I use up all my strength and am extremely tired. I feel like crying a little...? It’s better to work hard and do one’s job properly. Also, I feel that future exams won’t be as simple as those in 2010, 2012, and 2013. They will definitely focus more on practical engineering aspects and relevant standards, and they’ll create various obstacles to ensure that those with real skills can pass easily, while those trying to cheat give up hope, forcing people like me to keep struggling...
If I don’t do well this time, I’ll try again next time! Lose confidence and you really won’t have a chance
Indeed, I think I’ll lean more towards practical engineering work in the future~ I’ll keep working hard to prepare for exams~
Do more exercises, do more exercises – you dare to take an exam without even having studied principles of chemical engineering; what courage! In 2014, I only studied the textbooks provided and did fewer practice problems than this year; I only lost 2 points on the case study questions. This year I studied a lot more, and I thought I should be fine, but the process was still very difficult. It’s strange that in 2014, with less material to study and fewer practice problems, I was able to get those scores. Today, with a wider range of material to cover, more time required, and more practice problems to do, it’s still tough
Chemical engineering is too complex – fluid mechanics, reaction engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, separation engineering, chemical machinery, process control, electronics and electrical engineering… It seems extremely difficult with so much content to cover; fundamental chemical engineering actually involves only mass balance and the first law of thermodynamics.
Here comes the question: do more exercises, but which exercises? It’s the after-class exercises and past exam papers, what else are there for exercises? It seems that the accumulation over time is also lacking

Don’t be discouraged, OP; I also learned organic chemistry on my own. Spend more time and do more exercises – there’s no problem!
I definitely do the exercises; it requires concentration. I just feel like things don’t go well for me in exams – the questions are tricky, and I can only get right about a dozen of them. If I pass, it’s by a narrow margin, while if I fail, I score around 50 points. It’s really frustrating; there seems to be so much I don’t know. I can’t read every book either, as there’s simply too much material
Impressive; it will take me some time to reach your level. After all, if I relied only on reading books, I’d have given up long ago
