Recently, the plant was shut down for maintenance, and since it resumed operation, the ammonia nitrogen level in the effluent has remained high, around 10 mg/l. We use a treatment process that includes oil separation, two-stage air flotation, anaerobic treatment, aerobic treatment, and contact oxidation. The DO level in the anaerobic tank is between 0.11 and 0.18, while before the shutdown the DO level in the aeration tank was between 1 and 5. Recently, the DO level in the aeration tank has been high, ranging from 4 to 7. It didn’t decrease even after adjustment. Currently, the inlet water parameters show a COD level of between 100 and 500, with ammonia nitrogen at around 20. The outlet water parameters indicate a COD level of about 30, ammonia nitrogen between 6 and 10, a sedimentation ratio of around 60 after 30 minutes, and a sludge concentration of 4–6 g/l. The question now is how to reduce ammonia nitrogen levels below 5. Please, fellow people from Sichuan, think of some ways and provide a solution.
