Friends, are there any of you who did well in chemistry courses? I have a question: For activated carbon produced via the slurry method at around 800°C, when carbon regeneration is carried out using a thermal regeneration furnace, the exhaust gas still has a strong unpleasant odor even after being treated through three stages of adsorption using acid, alkali, and carbon. Our preliminary analysis suggests that this odor is caused by organic substances such as methane, which are produced by the high-temperature decomposition of flotation reagents like xanthate and No. 2 oil; these substances cannot be absorbed by acids or alkalis. So, may I ask: what organic solvent can be used as an absorbent to absorb these organic gases? Or what equipment can be used to remove them through combustion?
