We usually apply fire-retardant paint to the skirt of our towers, 30mm thick. Today, during the construction work, they asked us what kind of fireproof paint to use and what the specific requirements are. Has anyone encountered this problem? Generally, two hours is taken as the standard time; for steel structures, it’s 1.5 hours. Coatings also come in thick outdoor types and ultra-thin types – the thick types require a particularly large thickness, while for the thin types, 12 mm seems to be sufficient. The exact requirement depends on the technical specifications provided by the manufacturer of the fire-resistant coating.

How thick is it usually? What is the density?
Originally, fireproof cement (50 mm thick) was used, while now a 25 mm thick fire-resistant coating is used.
I checked the standards, and it states that the density of thick fireproof coatings should not exceed 650. Is the density really that low? The density of cement seems to be over 2000.
Normally, it’s the fire department that comes to conduct the inspection – a 2-hour fire resistance test, as everyone knows.
