Do the experts have any standards for static pressure testing of mechanical seals? Urgent need, please share
During maintenance, it is necessary to test for leaks in double-end face and tandem mechanical seals. Due to limitations imposed by site conditions, pressure is generally applied at the inlet and outlet ports of the seal fluid for mechanical seals; 0.2 Mpa for tandem seals, while the working pressure can be achieved for double-end face seals arranged back-to-back.

It depends on the design pressure and operating pressure; just make sure that the pressure during testing does not exceed the design pressure.
Standard: GB/T 14211. Typically, the hydrostatic test pressure for mechanical seals is 1.25 times the maximum operating pressure of the medium, with no leakage observed over a period of 10 minutes.

Seal units should all undergo hydrostatic pressure tests before leaving the factory; you can request the manufacturer to provide the hydrostatic pressure test report and certification. Before installing the seal, we also conduct a pressure test on the double-end face seal; we use an air pump to reach a pressure of 0.4 MPa, and if the pressure holds, then the seal can be installed. If there is a leak, we fill it with water and observe the location of the bubbles to identify the leak point – it’s usually due to loose screws.
