What is the purpose of adding reducers before and after the filter?
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-9-25 00:13. The size of the ends doesn’t really matter; what’s important is to choose a larger filter, but the inlet and outlet pipe diameters of the available filters are already at their smallest possible size.
It should be that imports increase while exports decrease
I guess what you’re describing is a situation where the diameter of the filter elements isn’t sufficient; in such cases, a larger-sized filter is used to address this issue. I haven’t heard that it’s necessary to use larger fittings in all cases Personal opinion :)

1. It is quite common to use larger-diameter connections at the inlet and outlet of blue-type filters, and we indeed have such filters. The first time we encountered this situation, it was a choice we made deliberately. After checking the specifications of relevant filters, we found that, given the area required for filtration, the diameter of the inlet and outlet (flange) pipes could not be as small as we needed. A too-small diameter would make it difficult to clean the filters frequently. Initially, the filter used in that location was a Y-shaped filter with a diameter equal to that of the inlet and outlet pipes; however, each time it was cleaned, it couldn’t be installed properly, which caused the filter elements to deform and essentially rendered them ineffective for filtration. Moreover, the small filtration area meant that frequent cleaning was also not suitable for the operating conditions there. 2. Later, another Y- or T-shaped filter was custom-made for this filter (to be used in parallel with the original blue filter); this filter itself had large and small ends (welded joints, rather than flange joints) – this was also something I saw for the first time. But it has never been installed.
