I’m new to pressure swing adsorption, and there’s a concept I’m not clear about; I hope everyone can give me some guidance. Adsorption pressure refers to the air pressure entering the adsorption tower. It’s still the pressure inside the adsorption tower. Or does it refer to other pressures? I measured the pressure in the intake pipeline to be 0.3 MP, while the pressure inside the adsorption tower was 0.2 MP. I’m not sure which one represents the adsorption pressure
The pressure in the adsorption tower when it is in the adsorption state is called the adsorption pressure. Generally, this adsorption pressure is the same as the pressure in the pipes feeding the PSA unit. The situation described by the original poster may be due to an unreasonable value being chosen for the inlet flow rate of the adsorption tower during the design of the unit – an excessively high flow rate – which results in significant pressure losses. The original poster can calculate what the base flow rate is.

It is likely that the pipe resistance in the section from your air compressor to the adsorber is too high, which results in a pressure drop of nearly 1 bar~~
Although the pressure drop is seemingly under control, if the rated production volume cannot be achieved, what’s the point? ~Hehe~~

The adsorption pressure should be the operating pressure inside the adsorption tower; in actual process control, as long as the product meets the required standards, there is no need to worry too much about whether the adsorption pressure reaches the theoretical value – that’s my personal opinion
Of course, when the pressure is reduced, it’s sufficient as long as the output, energy consumption, yield, and other parameters meet the required standards; after all, operating at a lower pressure can help save some energy. Meanwhile, the gas pressure required for subsequent use also needs to be maintained, and it’s not advisable to keep reducing the pressure indefinitely~~
