Fun Story 005 – The Bet

　　Li Dong was sleeping when he was suddenly awakened by the ringing of his phone. He saw that it was Wang Kai, who had drunk with him last night, calling. Li Dong pressed the answer button, but a woman’s voice came through: “I’m Wang Kai’s wife. Did Wang Kai drink with you last night?” Now he’s dead; you decide what to do! ” 　　Li Dong sat up abruptly: Wang Kai was fine last night; he just drank a little too much. How could he die like that? Is his wife trying to hold him accountable? Li Dong immediately felt like an ant on a hot pan. He had heard before that deaths resulting from drinking alcohol with others meant that all those who participated in the drinking were liable for compensation; it seemed he was going to lose money. 　　Li Dong quickly got in touch with Zhang San and Li Si, who had been drinking with him the previous night, to inform them of Wang Kai’s death, and they agreed to meet at a nearby tea house to discuss what to do. 　　After sitting down in the teahouse, Zhang San spoke first: \"Last night, Wang Kai insisted on dragging us out for drinks; what does he have to do with us at all?\" I won’t lose any money! ” 　　Li Si agreed, saying, “That’s right, exactly. Besides, Wang Kai has been sick for a while now, hasn’t he?” Who dares to say his death is related to drinking? ” 　　Seeing Zhang San and Li Si refuse to pay compensation, Li Dong’s face turned green: “But Wang Kai’s wife already knows about it; she’s definitely going to keep bothering us from now on.” ” 　　Zhang San’s eyes flickered, and suddenly he pleaded with Li Dong, \"Brother Dong, we all have elders to support and children to care for; you’re the only one who’s single. When it opened, it almost made him fall to the ground – it was Wang Kai who opened the door! 　　Seeing Li Dong’s pale face and the wreath in his hands, Wang Kai burst into laughter: “I’m sorry, Brother Dong. My wife insisted on making a bet with me – saying that even if I died from drinking, no one would send me a wreath. I knew you were an honest person, and sure enough, you did come!” ”
