With the further strengthening of **environmental protection policies, many companies have adopted wet desulfurization to ensure that the sulfur dioxide levels in the exhaust gases emitted by coke ovens meet regulatory standards. Since these desulfurized exhaust gases cannot be released into the coke oven chimneys, some people have proposed the use of heating methods to keep these chimneys functional, thereby ensuring sufficient suction in them; this serves as a backup solution when the desulfurization system is not operating properly. But this will inevitably consume a large amount of energy, leading to increased costs. Does a chimney need a hot standby?
The chimney needs to maintain a certain level of suction in order to exhaust the waste gases from the heating system. Therefore, a hot backup is required
Why not use a backup fan, instead of spending a large amount of energy on maintaining one?
It must be in hot standby; what if the fan stops? Accidents can occur if a coke oven loses power.
After flue gas desulfurization, the moisture content in the flue gas increases, the density of the flue gas rises, and the thermal buoyancy increases; therefore, the suction force in the chimney should be greater! Personally, I think it should work; no hot backup is needed, but further calculations are required
After wet flue gas desulfurization, the temperature of the flue gas decreases and its density increases, which results in a reduced suction force. The suction force in a chimney is generated by the difference in density between the hot exhaust gas inside and the cold air outside; therefore, a heat reserve is necessary.
