Dear sea friends, models 1#, 4#, and 6# of the Kai membrane filters all use flexible valves; their internal components need to be replaced frequently, resulting in a short average service life – some last 3 months while others only last 1 month. Do you have any recommendations for good manufacturers? Are there any manufacturers that replace it with a pneumatic butterfly valve?

We also replaced the valve in unit 1# with a pneumatic valve (air-operated type), but over time it tended to fail to close properly. The internal leakage in unit 1# was not too severe, but units 4# and 6# couldn’t be closed properly, resulting in fluid leaking into tanks and basins. The reason why pneumatic disc valves fail to close properly is either due to scaling caused by saltwater or quality issues with the valves themselves. Therefore, it’s important to decide on the appropriate type and brand of valve. I would like to ask those who have made such replacements how the results were – whether it’s more cost-effective and easier to use flexible valves instead!
In addition to the flexible penalty mass, the air supply source is also crucial; ours can generally last for 1 year.

Our company has replaced valve No. 1 with a start-up butterfly valve; the other flexible valves have not been modified yet. They are functioning well at present, though there is a small amount of crystallization at the flange area. It has a relatively long lifespan, improves the environment, and is worth upgrading.
