Two new automatic backwash filters have been installed in the workshop. After they were put into operation, vibrations occurred in the inlet and outlet pipelines. What could be the possible causes of this? Is it related to the working principle of the automatic backwash filters?~~~
This is caused by the liquid in the pipe not filling it completely, with the impact resulting from a small amount of liquid or air.
Can it really be solved this way? Is it feasible to add supports and hangers?~~~
Sure, fix it in place; it’s best to add a layer of rubber padding as well, to provide some clearance and to prevent any sparks that might be generated from collisions.

This issue can be resolved by first analyzing the cause of the vibration. The main reason for vibration in automatically backwashed filters is the sudden change in flow rate within the pipes during the backwashing process, which leads to vibration; by adjusting the flow rate to reduce such changes, it is possible to alleviate or even eliminate the vibration.
The actual situation on site was that during construction, the construction team did not follow the drawings and moved the filter’s installation location back by about 3 meters, which caused the pipes to exceed their designated spacing and resulting in vibrations. The solution adopted on site was to install a support structure to fix everything in place, and the problem has since been resolved
