Firstly, it’s not the water control valve that ensures stable oil levels; what happens is that when the tower pressure is low, the liquid level in the reflux tank rises rapidly, and the temperature at the top of the tower increases very quickly. Only by increasing the reflux rate can this downward trend be suppressed :(:(

If the tower pressure is too low, some of the C6 components will be distilled into the pentane fraction, resulting in a decrease in the benzene recovery rate later on. If the reflux ratio is too high, it results in an excessive amount of pentane in the C6 components at the bottom of the tower, which reduces the quality of the benzene extraction feed and increases the difficulty of carrying out the benzene extraction process.
It seems that there is an issue with the heat balance in this situation; it’s likely that there are problems with the siphoning action in the reboiler, or there may be flow restrictions such as air blockages in the cooling system at the top of the tower. Pay attention to any changes in these parameters. Additionally, this situation can also occur if there are problems with the tower’s pressure control scheme and control system; let’s rule out each possibility one by one.
