Question: Among the level gauges currently in use, which one is the most reliable (durable)? We would like to replace the level gauges in our purification and dry absorption circulation tanks with magnetic flap level gauges (currently float-type level gauges), but since we have no experience using them, our management has not given approval; hence we are seeking help! Urgent. . . It is best to have a manufacturer’s label. :L
We have been using radar level gauges – they are convenient, intuitive, and durable.
To date, in my experience: magnetic flip switches are the cheapest, most reliable, require no maintenance, and have low repair costs. We produce some and purchase some; the total cost of investment and maintenance for a 3-meter-long level gauge over 13 years has not exceeded 7,000, and it is estimated that it can still be used for a long time. Reliability is key, so the radars that were originally used have been largely replaced with optical ones.
For multi-point applications in radar level gauges, the magnetic flap level gauges we used before could provide misleading readings; therefore, we switched to radar level gauges
Each of our acid tanks is equipped with 1 radar level gauge and 1 magnetic flap level gauge. The two can be compared with each other. In the use of magnetic flap level gauges, accidents have occurred where the float came loose and entered the pump chamber.
It is also recommended to use both radar and magnetic flip switches simultaneously to avoid errors.
