I am currently working on improving the production process for chromatography-grade methanol. From what I’ve found, this type of methanol is obtained by subjecting industrial methanol to chemical pretreatment, adsorption, distillation, and other processes. However, the product obtained through experiments does not meet the required standards. Could there be an issue with the process? The information I found online seems a bit unreliable. Does anyone who has experience in this area have any suggestions? Is it necessary to use special glass instruments for producing such high-purity reagents, or can the ordinary instruments used in laboratories suffice? Preparing chromatography-grade reagents isn’t something that can be done simply by looking at someone else’s process and imitating it; if that were the case, why would chromatography reagents cost so much? This refining process involves many technical aspects, and the specific techniques used by different manufacturers may vary, but these details are kept confidential. If one wants to make money through this process, it is necessary to invest a certain amount of money first to understand the essence of the technology; at the same time, a complete set of analysis and testing methods must be established to ensure that the products produced are of qualified quality. Such reagents can generally be easily identified as qualified or not by using chromatography or spectroscopy techniques in the organizations that use them.
Isn’t the content important? Reagents that are so expensive – would they agree to use them if the concentration is low? You may not have any idea what purity level chromatographically pure reagents entail
