Our company is working on a new project, and the design institute requires us to provide an automation control plan. I don’t know how to draft such a plan; does anyone have any examples? Please share one for reference. Thank you! My email address is: 657635304@qq.com
Generally, the design institute comes up with a proposal and then the owner discusses it; otherwise, what’s the need for a design institute?
Are you the owners? The owner can simply put forward their requirements; process requirements (process control in the production workflow)
It’s too amateurish – aren’t it the owners who propose the projects, with the design institutes then creating the process packages and flow designs based on those projects? Then the process engineering team specifies the control parameters and monitoring parameters based on production requirements, and discusses with the automation team how to implement these controls; why does the owner also get involved in this? That doesn’t make any sense
This is actually a requirement from the owners – things like the level of automation and the technical standards of the control equipment; all of these are related to one thing: money. The owner’s requirements regarding investment in automation levels determine whether to use domestic automation equipment and DCS systems, or imported instruments, valves, and DCS systems; it also decides whether to opt for full automation with one-button start/stop functions or a semi-automated approach. This is related to the project’s budget.
It’s probably not a matter of control schemes, but rather requirements regarding the level of automation; control schemes are something that is designed
1. Process flow diagram with measurement points – which of these points need to be connected to the DCS or PLC (including temperature, pressure, flow rate, analysis data, control valves, electrical signal indications, start/stop controls, etc.); 2. How is operation achieved in each process? For example: controlling temperature by opening or closing valves through control valves, and automatic adjustment based on the outlet temperature ; Manual and automatic control for starting and stopping the pump ; 3. It involves complex logic; if it is not handled by the design institute as a turnkey project, such details are not necessary for them to know. These matters can be resolved through communication between process engineers, instrumentation specialists, and configuration personnel (including those from the main equipment manufacturer)
Plans are either created by design firms or by automation companies. I work in an automation company as a pre-sales specialist, responsible for preparing plans; I communicate with clients, understand their needs, then prepare plans for them and discuss things further :)
I think this is a self-control scheme, generally used in the early stages of a project, including the configuration of the control system and the types and selection of on-site instruments
Otherwise, ask the design institute to provide a template and just follow it
