This liquefaction plant produces 100 Wm3 of liquefied natural gas per day. The high-voltage power grid operates at 110 KV, and the voltage is reduced to 10 KV through transformers. Since wind and solar power sources in the area were connected to the power grid, fluctuations in voltage have occurred frequently. The current drawn by the MRC compressors has risen from 600 A to as high as 800 A; for some larger pumps, the current has increased from 325 A to 345 A, which is almost equal to their rated current of 348 A. Such situations have caused some air coolers to shut down several times. Moreover, due to these voltage fluctuations, it’s not possible to increase the load at all. If fluctuations occur when the load is approaching its maximum level, it could lead to the immediate shutdown of the compressors. The normal production data has been disrupted; I’ve contacted the power supply company, but no action has been taken. I wonder if anyone here can suggest a solution or help analyze how to prevent excessive current disturbances?

Well, it’s not been operating at full capacity all the time, but some of the pumps are running at full capacity. The industrial-frequency motors exceed their rated capacity as soon as there’s a power fluctuation, which is quite scary; haha, a single pump can cost hundreds of thousands!
