In each fire compartment, or on each floor of a fire compartment, the horizontal distance between the nearest edges of two adjacent safety exits shall be not less than 5 meters. What does the red text mean? At the evacuation exits, it is also stipulated that the horizontal distance between the nearest edges of the two adjacent evacuation doors in each room must be at least 5 meters. What does the horizontal distance between the nearest edges mean?
In other words, the two safety exits or evacuation exits within a fire compartment should not be too close to each other; being too close together hinders evacuation and can lead to crowding.
;P I misunderstood. I thought that having one on the left and one on the right would definitely result in a length of more than 5 meters – my understanding was wrong! Thank you!
