When removing the guided floating valve tray, it was found that some of the screws had bolts that were only half-sized. Why is that? The bolt has only half of it; the other half has been cut off
What is the purpose of this design? Preventing screws from getting stuck makes them harder to remove? All the screws around the tower wall are intact
It’s possible I bought the wrong bolts; they were too long and had to be cut off
Well, the bolt has been cut in half axially, not radially
Actually, if the original poster were to go in and install it once themselves, they would understand why this semi-cylindrical bolt design was chosen. Try installing a few of them and you’ll understand why.
If I remember correctly, it is to determine the direction in which the plates are pressed at the bottom, so as to prevent incorrect orientation of the plates during installation and avoid an inability to secure the tray firmly
