Why is our octane not transparent? It’s a bit hazy. I earnestly ask for the guidance of all my brothers and masters.
Under normal conditions, isooctane is colorless and transparent; if your sample appears cloudy, it may be due to inadequate alkaline or water washing in the DuPont process. Another possible reason could be the presence of water in the subsequent processing steps. Check the water separation in the reflux lines at the tops of the isobutane and n-butane towers. It is recommended to start by examining the raw materials from the source and eliminate potential issues one by one.
Bring water? Still, start by checking for refinement issues or internal leaks in the heat exchanger
Shut down for maintenance; wash the tower again, especially the reboiler at the bottom of the isobutane removal tower.

If there are floating substances, they are caused by reaction by-products; such substances are lighter than water but heavier than oil, and they cannot be removed from the reboiler. It is best to shut down the operation, remove the material, and thoroughly wash it to eliminate these substances.
