The pipeline is made of stainless steel, and the heat tracing pipe is intended to be made of ordinary carbon steel, but there is concern about potential corrosion. Is it necessary to make the heat tracing tube out of stainless steel? Or are there other methods, such as using a gasket at the contact surface between carbon steel and stainless steel? Is there any experienced brother who can share the approach?
There will be no problem if an asbestos gasket is used to separate the carbon steel heat tracing pipe from the stainless steel main pipe. Carbon steel heat tracing tubes are prone to clogging, so attention is needed

My first thought was coated plastic pipes, but from the reviews it seems that using asbestos would be more economical; however, might the heat transfer not be even?
Hasn’t asbestos been phased out and banned gradually? Are there any other alternatives?
For the heat tracing of stainless steel pipes in our company, carbon steel is used. From what can be observed on site, there seems to be a gap between the carbon steel pipes and the stainless steel pipes; after insulation is applied, this gap is filled with a material that facilitates heat transfer between the heat tracing pipes and the process pipes
To avoid more trouble in the future, use stainless steel
Carbon steel pipes are painted, so there should be no issue with potential corrosion. Since they are enclosed in insulating material, the paint is less likely to peel off, so it should be fine. Of course, stainless steel is the best choice, although it is more expensive
What is it like to be separated? Isn’t it jacket heating?
For such a simple issue, in our company we use jacketed and semi-jacketed heating systems; the pipes are made of stainless steel and are heated by means of insulation. A thick layer of paint is applied to them, followed by wrapping them in insulating material, which results in very minimal corrosion. The heating medium is steam and condensate water.
