Multiple scenic spots in Gansu enter off-season mode; ticket prices will be reduced starting from November 1st

Every winter is the off-season for tourism in the northwest. Starting from November 1st, ticket prices for many attractions in Gansu are reduced or given discounts to encourage more tourists to visit. It is understood that from November each year to April of the following year, due to climate conditions and traditional beliefs, the number of tourists visiting Gansu drops significantly; this period is often referred to as the \"off-season\" for tourism in Gansu, and even the tourist attractions that are usually crowded begin to become less busy. To attract visitors and keep the off-season in winter and spring from being dull, many tourist attractions have introduced ticket price cuts or discounts during this period to draw in tourists. Starting from November 1st, various tourist attractions in Gansu Province, including the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, Kongtong Mountain in Pingliang, the Yadan Geopark, and Xianrenya in Tianshui, will offer half-price ticket discounts. More than a hundred other A-rated tourist attractions will be open free of charge or with discounted ticket prices. In addition, starting from October 30, airports across the province will switch from summer and autumn flight schedules to winter and spring schedules. To facilitate travel for domestic and international visitors, Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, Dunhuang Airport, Jiayuguan Airport, Qingyang Airport, Jinchang Airport, Zhangye Airport, and others have made corresponding adjustments to their flight schedules. Regular flights between major cities across the country and Lanzhou, as well as flights from Dunhuang to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an, Lanzhou, and Urumqi, will continue to operate during the off-season, along with key routes from secondary airports such as Jiayuguan, Qingyang, Jinchang, and Tianshui. At the same time, airlines have increased their fare discounts; flights from Lanzhou to various major cities are generally available at 30% to 80% off, with the lowest fares offering even a 16% discount. On the Lanzhou-Xi’an route, special tickets priced at 90 yuan are available.

The World Cultural Heritage site of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang: During the peak season, 8 caves are open to visitors at the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang; those who purchase emergency tickets can only visit 4 caves. Currently, during the off-season, 12 caves are open. Not only that, but from November 1st until April 30th of the following year, for a full half year, the admission fee for individual visitors to the Mogao Caves will be reduced by half to 100 yuan (additional discounts may be available for those who meet the relevant criteria). The greatest advantage of visiting the Mogao Caves during the off-season is the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the caves, as well as more time to discuss any questions one may have with the guides. 2. Kongtong Mountain in Pingliang, known as “the number one Taoist mountain in China”: the off-season ticket price will be in effect from November 1st to March 31st of next year, at 60 yuan per person per visit, while the peak-season price is 120 yuan per person per visit. The prices of the resort shuttle buses, cable cars, and other preferential offers remain unchanged, and the various attractions are open for visitation. 3. Maijishan in Tianshui, one of China’s four major grottoes: the off-season period runs from November 1st to April 30th of the following year. The ticket price for the scenic area during the peak season is 110 yuan per person per visit, while it is only 70 yuan per person per visit during the off-season. In addition, during the off-season, the Xianrenya Scenic Area and Shimen Scenic Area will offer half-price winter tickets to tourists.
Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, a 4.5A-level tourist attraction: The ticket prices for this attraction remain unchanged depending on whether it is peak or off-peak season. The peak season runs from May 1st to October 31st each year, with the price being 160 yuan per person per visit； The off-season runs from November 1st of each year to April 30th of the following year, at 80 yuan per person per trip. 5. Jingtai Yellow River Stone Forest at the \"World Geology Museum\": The scenic area was closed from November 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017. During this period, visitors’ vehicles were not restricted from entering; they only needed to purchase a ticket (40 yuan per person) to access the area. In addition to these well-known tourist attractions, during the winter and spring travel seasons, more than a hundred other A-grade tourist attractions in Gansu are open free of charge or offer discounted ticket prices.
