The main techniques for producing calcium stearate are as follows: First, double displacement; due to environmental concerns, almost no manufacturers use this technique anymore. Product features: High specific surface area; contains soluble salt impurities. Second, the one-step water process: high energy consumption in production; catalysts are used (currently only 1-2 manufacturers employ this method). The properties of the product are basically similar to those of double displacement reactions. Third, the melting method: it results in a small batch size, there is a high level of dust in the working environment, and catalysts are used (this method is employed by most domestic manufacturers at present). Product characteristics: Small batch sizes, unstable reaction control, poor product stability, and poor dispersibility of the product. Fourth, a combination of water-based and melting methods: this approach overcomes the limitation of low production volume per batch in the melting method; however, it requires high equipment investment costs, does not need the use of catalysts during the process, and results in high product purity. This is a difference in production; is it possible to compare the performance? It’s impossible to compare the quality of one thing with that of another; I think since the criteria are different, such a comparison is meaningless.

There are certainly some differences in performance due to varying production methods, such as dispersibility, soluble salts, and thermal stability, etc. But as long as it is calcium stearate, I believe it should meet industry standards, with identical physical and chemical quality specifications. The standard indicators for assessing calcium stearate include: free fatty acid content, metal oxide content, melting point, loss on heating (water content), and particle size.
