The latest updates indicate that the preliminary work for this million-ton-scale industrial demonstration project is advancing well; 10 special reports and 4 individual approvals have been granted. The core process package for producing aromatics from methanol has been developed jointly by Huadian Coal Industry, Tsinghua University, and CNPC East China Design Institute. In addition, the selection process for the other 13 proprietary technologies required for the project has been completed, and the overall design of the project is currently in progress. The project approval report has been reviewed by the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, which has agreed to issue an approval decision after obtaining the supplementary environmental impact assessment document. The environmental impact assessment report for this project is being finalized, and it will be submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for approval in the near future. The water resources assessment report has also been submitted for approval. The HuanDian Yulin million-ton coal-based methanol to aromatics industrialization demonstration project has a total investment of 36 billion yuan. Its main facilities include five systems: one for producing 3 million tons of coal-based methanol per year, one for producing 1.2 million tons of methanol to aromatics via fluidized bed technology, one for combined aromatics production of 1 million tons, one for producing 1.6 million tons of purified terephthalic acid, and one for producing 600,000 tons of polyester.
The industrial demonstration project for producing aromatics from coal-based methanol on a million-ton scale in Yulin, operated by Huadian, is under the construction and operation of Yanjiang Petroleum. The process package was developed jointly by Huadian Coal Industry, Tsinghua University, and CNPC East China Design Institute.
