As the title suggests, it is well known that the head achieved by connecting centrifugal pumps in series is additive. But what happens when a centrifugal pump is connected in series with a diaphragm pump? What is the pressure that can be outputted? If anyone knows, please reply below; I would be extremely grateful!

First of all, this series connection is meaningless. Furthermore, if a series connection is indeed necessary, the flow and head curve of a diaphragm pump is a curve that is almost perpendicular to the flow axis. Just overlay it directly on the graph; the result will be roughly equivalent to that of a centrifugal pump that isn’t used. But the series connection order of the two pumps will definitely affect the NPSHa corresponding to each of the pumps.
:)I’ve never encountered this situation; diaphragm pumps operate intermittently, so they shouldn’t be connected in series, I guess.
It’s like this: I have a device that requires high pressure, and it’s difficult to use a centrifugal pump for it, so a diaphragm pump is needed. To transport this fluid, it is necessary to remove any large particles, so I need to install a filter bag. A centrifugal pump will be used as the transfer pump; the fluid passes through the filter bag first before reaching the diaphragm pump. So, in fact, the centrifugal pump is basically used only to provide the driving force for filtration by the filter bags, and then to send the liquid feed to the diaphragm pump.
