Nylon 6 (polycaprolactam) is produced by the polymerization of caprolactam. Continuous polymerization is now practically feasible, with equipment designs continuously being improved, and the processing techniques becoming increasingly rational and mature. However, the measurement of viscosity during nylon production has always relied on laboratory sampling and analysis. Due to the time lag associated with such sampling and analysis, any abnormalities that occur during production cannot be effectively controlled. Online nylon viscosity monitoring systems do not require sampling; by enabling real-time monitoring and feedback, they can issue alerts promptly in the event of any abnormalities, thus providing better guidance for production. The production process of nylon 6 is rather special, as it involves polymerization within pipes. Therefore, the conventional instruments used in our system are generally installed on these pipes (to avoid disrupting production, a bypass is usually installed on the main pipeline), and the signals from these instruments are then fed into our smart instruments for modeling purposes. Since this technology involves non-standard products, the specific design still needs to be determined based on the operating conditions.
