As the title says. If the design pressure of the equipment is 10 barg, can a flange on one of the pipe connections be 300#? Is there a standard specifying whether the flanges at the pipe ends must be the same or can differ? Thank you!
The flange class of the pipe ends can vary; there is no specification requiring them to be the same...
It must be possible, right? I have money – can’t I use a higher-grade one? Having money means being willful. (In fact, the actual situation is that we have high-grade flanges in stock.) I work in design, and in practice I’ve also encountered situations where clients requested that a certain flange be upgraded to a higher grade, which is no problem

It’s quite common; depending on the pipe end, there are flanges of various grades. I have also designed ones with a pipe end rating of 300 pounds and ones with a rating of 1500 pounds. . .
