I need to select a natural gas shut-off butterfly valve; I’m not sure which sealing type is suitable Can a rubber-lined valve be used? If lining with rubber is to be done, what kind of rubber should be used? Things like EPDM, NBR, PTFE – considering sealing performance, PTFE might not be as good as EPDM. I’d appreciate some advice.
What is the diameter of your valve port? If the diameter is not large, it is recommended to use ball valves or globe valves; butterfly valves do not provide good sealing, and over time they tend to experience internal or external leaks. Did you choose a valve with a rubber lining because natural gas contains corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide? What is the pressure of this valve? If the pressure is too high, it won’t fit...
For natural gas, PTFE can be used; for rubber, fluororubber is the best choice, as other types of rubber tend to deteriorate easily

Pneumatic cut-off butterfly valves are generally used; a cast steel body will suffice. Both hard-seal and PTFE-seal types are acceptable. EPDM is inexpensive, but its service life is relatively short. .
