During insulation work on pipes with accompanying tubes, both polyurethane and foam glass are hard and brittle; how can one insulate the irregular outer surface of these pipes, and is it necessary to fill any gaps tightly?
For insulation, we usually use rubber cotton wrapped in 3 layers; there’s no such problem, and the performance is quite good
Polyurethane foaming is applied to the outer layer after filling with polyurethane foam or pearlescent sand.
Irregular areas can be filled with rubber-plastic insulation; if there are large gaps in between, polyurethane can be sprayed using a on-site foaming gun to fill those gaps. All of these can be easily resolved.
I’m not very familiar with it – is expanded polyurethane still allowed to be used these days? Rubber cotton is a good material; what’s its economic viability in terms of projects? Ventilation and air conditioning seem to be common applications

Rubber-plastic boards are widely used for insulation; they are cheap and convenient. At temperatures below -50 degrees, rubber-plastic sheets cannot be used; polyurethane foam needs to be applied on-site
I use foam glass here (black in color, very hard); it’s secured with steel wires, then covered with linseed oil (apparently to seal gaps and prevent condensation), with a layer of stainless steel placed on top
