May I ask where there are requirements for nitrogen purity? The nitrogen is used for purging distillation equipment, or for nitrogen displacement before welding operations. Is a nitrogen purity of 99.5% sufficient in this case? Does anyone know?
99.5% is not sufficient; here we require four 9s. For nitrogen purging in distillation units, the oxygen content is required to be less than 0.2%, and before carrying out any welding work, the combustible gas content must be less than 0.5%. Therefore, this nitrogen can be used for purging pipelines before welding, but it is not suitable for purging distillation towers.
Are there any relevant specifications regarding the requirement of four 9s for purity?
What factors are considered when the oxygen content is less than 0.2%? It is a atmospheric distillation tower, used for separating gasoline and diesel mixtures
