How to verify the orifice diameter and number of stages of the orifice plate provided by the manufacturer? Is there a relevant formula? The medium is high-pressure steam
Does the so-called manufacturer refer to a flow meter manufacturer? We’ve never verified it; we just provide the parameters to the supplier, and their technical staff will calculate it for us right away.
Throttle orifice plates are used in the return line at the outlet of high-pressure pumps as well as in high-pressure steam vent lines. . . During the bid evaluation, the pore diameters of several manufacturers were inconsistent, so an approximate calculation and verification were required
In the case of a single-stage orifice plate, the orifice diameters should be essentially the same. For multi-stage versions, there are significant differences; each stage of the orifice plate is subjected to a different pressure drop, which results in varying orifice diameters. There are classic formulas, but some manufacturers use empirical formulas, especially for more specialized media such as steam.
You can follow HG20570 to do the calculations yourself, for a rough estimate.
We don’t calculate it ourselves either; we let the manufacturer do the verification. The manufacturers’ calculation methods may vary, so the diameters they provide may not be exactly the same. If you do the calculations by yourself, then you can only say which manufacturer’s formula is more similar, and that manufacturer will have an advantage; P
If you lack experience, choose a manufacturer with a good reputation and then consider the price factor as well.
