Dear sea friends, since the welds in spiral welded pipes are not visible, how can we avoid the welds from ending up right at the position of the pipe supports? Since some of the pipe racks and pipes need to be spot-welded, will welding affect the quality of the spiral welding on the original pipes?

The welds on spiral welded pipes should be visible to the naked eye. Generally, when spiral welded pipes are used, the diameter of the pipes is relatively large, and the distance between the spiral-shaped welds on such pipes is also substantial. When manufacturing pipe supports, spot welding can be carried out entirely around these welds. Moreover, spot welding also has little effect on this weld.

It’s hard to avoid; in the areas where the welds on the pipe itself come into contact with the supports, it’s possible to leave those sections unwelded, and that’s not a problem. Of course, it’s better to use pipes with straight welds, but spiral-welded pipes work just fine as well
