It is well known that Inconel 600 can withstand high temperatures and is corrosion-resistant. However, the melting point of Inconel 600 is around 1400 degrees Celsius. Is there a problem with operating under conditions where the pressure is 1 bar, chlorine is present in the pipeline, and the temperature is 800 degrees Celsius? Another issue is heat insulation; at 800 degrees, will Inconel 600 turn red? Will ordinary insulation be sufficient? At what temperature does Inconel 600 turn dark red or orange-red?
Inconel600 alloy is a nickel-chromium-iron-based solid solution strengthened alloy that exhibits good resistance to high-temperature corrosion and oxidation, as well as excellent properties for cold and hot working and welding. 1. In a chlorine environment, the recommended maximum continuous operating temperature for Inconel 600 alloy is 540. The relevant corrosion data are consistent with Nickel201. If possible, it is recommended to use Alloy 214 or Alloy R-41 (UNS N07041). They can be used up to 900 degrees, and these two materials perform better in a chlorine environment than Inconel 600. 2.
