A real case from our company: in a Fuji unit, there was air leakage at the shaft seal; a fan was used to blow air towards the dew point, thereby reducing the amount of condensate that entered; It worked very well; almost no water seeped in afterwards ; Of course, a vacuum oil filter needs to be started ;
Isolated nitrogen is introduced at the gas-sealed tank end, and a vacuum pump is installed between the isolated gas and the shaft seal steam
Increase the vacuum level of the turbine’s steam seal extractor, and also increase the nitrogen gas used for isolation at the bearing housing
Isolation air is supplied on the outside of the steam seal, and external air pipelines are used to disperse it in order to adjust the extraction pressure.
If conditions permit, it’s of course necessary to replace the shaft seal; if not, try adjusting the air pressure applied to the shaft seal. It’s also necessary to separate oil from water, increase the frequency of analyses regarding oil demulsification, and implement cooling and drainage measures between the shaft seal and the oil

Before replacing the steam seal, external circulation electric heating evaporation filtration can be used for oil removal; take the filter used during your company’s overhauls (one that includes electric heating for water removal), find a discharge point at the bottom of the oil tank, connect an oil pipe from there to the external filter, and connect the outlet of the filter back to the oil tank. After connecting it to electricity, run the filtration process for 8 hours per day during working hours, and the results are very good! Even in the absence of steam seal leakage, an external circulation filter must be installed to remove water and impurities, and it is necessary to operate it in a cycle mode for one shift per day! That’s exactly how we do it, and it’s also an effective measure for the long-term operation of the flight crew!
Nitrogen is introduced on the outside of the turbine steam seal (instrument air can be used in non-explosion-proof areas) to isolate the steam seal from the oil seal, while also adjusting the extraction steam pressure. The oil seal gland can also be modified to add a nitrogen interface
