Heat preservation can also be achieved using electric heating tapes. The heat generation per unit length of such tapes remains constant; their output power does not change with variations in ambient temperature. The required length of the tape is proportional to its power, and it can be cut, wound, or folded as needed during installation. When activated in low-temperature conditions, electric heat tracing starts up quickly and ensures even temperature distribution, maintaining an appropriate temperature without any localized overheating; it is therefore an energy-saving device. Data shows that the thermal efficiency of electric heating can reach 74%–97%, which is much higher than 10%–40% for steam.
