On December 2nd, Beijing time, the NBA announced that LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder were named the NBA’s Best Player in the East and West for October and November, respectively. James leads the defending champions to the top of the East with a record of 13 wins and 3 losses; he averages 23.5 points, 9.3 assists (third in the league), and 8.1 rebounds per game. So far, James has already recorded three triple-doubles, matching last season’s total, and has had at least 10 assists in seven games. 31-year-old James became the youngest player in history to reach 27,000 points, and he only needs one assist to rank 16th on the all-time assists list. In the first two months, James had a shooting accuracy of 49.8% and a 3-point shooting accuracy of 36.2%. With Westbrook averaging a triple-double in the first 20 games of the season, the Thunder led the Northwest Division with a record of 12 wins and 8 losses. This 1.90-meter tall defender is second in the scoring chart (31.2 points) and in the assists chart (11.3 assists), as well as 11th in the rebounds chart (10.5 rebounds). Westbrook became the second player after Oscar Robertson to score at least 500 points, 200 rebounds, and 200 assists in 20 games; Big O achieved this in 17 games during the 1961-62 season. To date, Westbrook has achieved nine triple-doubles in total (including four consecutive triple-doubles at the end of last month), which is more than the total number of triple-doubles achieved by any other player.
