Hydrogenation units generally have corrosion inhibitors added to them. When winter comes in the north, plunger pumps often fail to deliver the required flow rate or pressure, which is really troublesome. Do any of you have any good ideas? Let’s discuss them together to find a solution to the issue of adding corrosion inhibitors during winter. Thank you in advance!
Insulation, increased heat tracing; injection volume
Is it a problem with the pump or a freezing issue? For freezing conditions, heat tracing or the addition of dilute corrosion inhibitors is required to increase the pumping capacity of the pumps
Both heat retention and heating are options; increasing the amount of fluid injected would result in too high costs
There are only a few days in winter when it’s extremely cold here; it’s better to increase the flow rate rather than let things freeze~~~~ Just because there is heating and insulation doesn’t mean freezing won’t happen – there are still dead zones even with such measures~~~
Well, gains and losses need to be balanced; saving a little can end up costing more in terms of remedies, making it not worth it~~~~
Our unit is equipped with a heat tracing system, but it often doesn’t produce the required flow rate. In winter, the corrosion inhibitor can freeze and clog the inlet filter; simply connecting a steam hose and using steam to blow through the filter from time to time will resolve this issue
