Has anyone tried adding materials to a reactor containing hydrofluoric acid solution? Since hydrofluoric acid is volatile (it has a low melting point), if an exhaust vent is used during material addition, it’s very likely that a large amount of HF will be released through that vent. When this HF comes into contact with water in the air, corrosion can occur. So, if the reactor is sealed, how can powdery materials be added to it?
Water can be added to the reactor first, followed by the addition of materials, and finally hydrofluoric acid
How can hydrofluoric acid be stored in a container that isn’t corrosion-resistant?
