For example: you want to separate a binary substance—carbon three from carbon four. With a fixed number of trays, the higher the requirement at the top of the tower (e.g., 99.99%), the greater the reflux will be, and consequently there will be a certain amount of C3 at the bottom of the tower. With physical adsorption, the efficiency inevitably decreases over time, which then requires regeneration or replacement.
Our company uses activated carbon to absorb THF molecules from gases, and the efficiency follows a certain curve: it is 100% within 10 minutes, but if the concentration is three times normal, absorption is no longer possible after 5 minutes.
