Specifically, a simple pressure vessel is one that meets the following conditions simultaneously. 1. Simple structure: The shell of the gas cylinder consists only of a body and a head. 2. Single material: The materials of the main pressure-bearing components of the gas storage tank, such as its cylinder body and end caps, are carbon plastic steel or austenitic stainless steel. 3. The medium is non-hazardous: the medium consists of air, nitrogen, and water vapor produced by the evaporation of medical distilled water. 4. Small capacity: The maximum capacity of the container is no more than 1,000 liters. 5. The design pressure is low: the maximum design pressure of the container is 1.6 MPa. 6. The design temperature range is narrow: the minimum design temperature of the container is -20°C, and the maximum is 150°C. 7. The value of the product of volume and operating pressure is low: the product of volume and operating pressure should not exceed 1000 MPa·L. 8. Welding containers without direct flame.
Who said there’s no definition for simple pressure vessels? Check page P102. All eight conditions must be met simultaneously.

Many people mistakenly believe that simple pressure vessels are not subject to regulation, but this is incorrect. Since they are not managed as pressure vessels, some users have been punished by regulatory authorities for their illegal activities. Simple pressure vessels simply do not require a registration certificate for use or regular inspections throughout their service life; however, their management still needs to comply with technical specifications. They are considered special equipment that falls under regulatory oversight, though the requirements on them are considerably reduced, thereby easing the burden on enterprises.
