There is an emergency shut-off valve, a ball valve, before the pump inlet valve at the bottom of the distillation tower. The ball valve has developed coking, and it cannot be switched off due to the shutdown. Are everyone’s emergency shut-off valves ball valves, and do they suffer from coking?
It should be a gate valve; why is a ball valve being used?
We are butterfly valves. Under normal conditions, the temperature at the bottom of the distillation tower is well controlled, so it shouldn’t remain excessively high for long periods; this prevents coking. Moreover, at the extraction point at the bottom of the tower, the flow rate of the oil slurry is high and the residence time is short, so coking shouldn’t occur either. It’s likely that the valve is stuck

Why did you choose to use a ball valve for this position? Who designed it?
What’s wrong with questioning SEI? If there are no doubts, then the design institute should provide clarification as well! What is the significance of choosing this ball valve? Not everything from SEI is necessarily true! ! (Focusing on the matter at hand, not targeting SEI or you personally)
We just had it designed this year; it hasn’t been installed yet. As everyone has discussed, gate valves don’t tend to clog up, right?
Can we add anti-sticking steam?
