This post was last edited by Thank goodness you're here on 2015-7-14 at 14:32. You Generation 90s, who grew up alongside the Internet, are quick-witted, have distinct personalities, and emphasize self-expression. It can also be said that they are idealistic to an extreme and detached from reality; their thinking is active but prone to extremism. They have a strong sense of self, yet find it difficult to assess themselves objectively and accurately. You post-90s newcomers to the workplace have a positive attitude toward work, are eager to improve themselves through practical experience, and tend to be more idealistic when making career choices. Desire to realize one’s self-worth at work even more. As post-90s newcomers who have only started entering the workplace in the past two years, we are still clearly the juniors compared to those who are more experienced. How can we grow faster in the workplace? 1. Overcome the flaw of being too self-centered. To a certain extent, the enthusiasm and quick thinking that characterize post-90s newcomers are qualities that give them a unique energy; in creative and design-related jobs, this enthusiasm and passion can help them stand out quickly in the workplace. On the other hand, the flaw is your active thinking; to a certain extent, you are too idealistic, detached from reality, and prone to being stubborn. Lack of teamwork spirit. The editor believes that young professionals born in the 1990s need to abandon their overly self-centered attitude, realize that work is different from school life, act in the interest of the team as a whole, and only hold firm to their own opinions when those opinions align with the team’s interests. 2. Choose a career you truly love. Surveys show that most young professionals born in the 1990s lack clarity in their goals and are too idealistic; when there is a significant gap between their work and their ideals, they choose to resign and seek a new job as a solution. So, how exactly should one make a choice? Based on my years of experience in society, there is only one way: choose a job that you love and stick with it to the end. You guys born in the 1990s must understand this fact: at the beginning of your career, no matter which industry you choose, the pressures you face are the same, and there is no significant difference in salary levels. The only difference is one thing: whether there is love or no love. Choosing a career you love ensures that you can devote ten times more enthusiasm and effort to your work, allowing you to stand out quickly. More importantly, through this process, you will further explore and improve yourself, and discover your own value. I am also willing to take steady steps and firm up my footing. 3. Learn to hide and develop emotional intelligence. Compared to those born in the 1970s and the 1980s, the new professionals born in the 1990s lack one thing above all: they tend to act rashly and be straightforward in the workplace, which leads to them suffering losses without even realizing it. So, what can be done to change this situation? There is no other secret—only one: learn to hide one’s sharp edges and develop emotional intelligence. Learn to communicate in different ways in various situations and with different groups of people. 4. Strive to improve your professional skills. You people born in the 1990s still need to understand that without sufficient work experience, you are young enough; as long as you work hard and have the energy and time to hone your professional skills, this will be your greatest asset for succeeding in society and in the future. 5. Improve your overall quality in various aspects. You millennials must understand that the future belongs to you, but having only one skill will not ensure that you can hold your own in a society that is constantly changing. Striving to improve your skills in various areas will ensure that you are in the best condition to embrace a better future. 6. Be strong inside and give yourself a sense of security. You who have just entered university lack a home, a car, sufficient social resources, or enough work experience – how can you establish yourself? A sense of insecurity and loneliness follow you everywhere. But you must understand this truth: there is no sense of security in the world originally; it is only when many people desire it that a sense of security arises. True sense of security can only be given by oneself. Only when your inner world is fulfilled and you face life with calmness and serenity do you possess the greatest weapon for saving yourself.
